Men's Singles Semi Final::ATP Australian Open 2013
Defending champion Novak Djokovic will take on No. 4 seed David Ferrer in the first of the men's semifinals. Djokovic is looking for his third consecutive Australian Open title.

David Ferrer and Novak Djokovic have now met in all 3 of the last hard court Slams. Their meeting at the 2012 Australian Open came in the quarterfinals, which Djokovic won in straight sets. They also clashed at the US Open in the semifinals, thanks to the absence of Rafael Nadal, and Djokovic won that meeting in 4.

Ferrer's style of retrieving tennis doesn't match particularly well against Djokovic's. The Serb is not easily drawn into making unforced errors, and his baseline game is more powerful than Ferrer's, which probably eliminates the possibility that Ferrer will ever outhit the world No. 1, especially not at the Serb's favorite tournament.

Djokovic had a tricky round of 16 match against Stanislas Wawrinka, which ended 12-10 in the fifth and featured some poor tennis from the Serb in the first set. But Wawrinka is the kind of shotmaker that can sometimes trouble the Serb, whereas Ferrer is more of a grinder.
